"Mission Accomplished"

No, I'm not talking about the election. Yes, I am talking about that infamous banner on the aircraft carrier. Here's what one soldier, stationed in (blogging from) Iraq had to say about it:

That's what so many failed to comprehend about that whole mission accomplished thing. It wasn't your mission. That was someone else's mission. Sorry, those of you who didn't get it. I saw that banner and hoped there would be something left for me to do.

I think something that people (who aren't in the military) don't understand is that the "mission accomplished" was directed towards the ousting of the Saddam regime. It had absolutely nothing to do with the end of the war on terror as some spinners lead us to believe. Something else that it was was an encourager. It helped re-affirm that we really kicked some ass going in there and getting that particular job done. We got Saddam out of power and that was the point of that message. Thanks.
